Andy has been working in the climateprediction.net project within OeRC (Department of Engineering) for the past 8 years. The climateprediction.net (CPDN) is a citizen science volunteer computing project that uses the BOINC distributed computing framework to distribute and compute climate simulations on volunteer's computers. The BOINC framework allows computational simulations to be computed on the computers of members of the public who have signed up to the project. The computational simulations are run on the volunteer's machines when they are not being actively used. Andy is the Systems Architect and handles DevOps for the CPDN project. In addition, Andy is actively involved in making new volunteer computing projects, and making new climate science applications for the CPDN project. Andy's interests are in distributed computing and the cloud.
