Past Research
The Oxford e-Research Centre has been involved in a large number of projects and collaborations across a wide range of disciplines as can be seen in this archive.
The projects shown below have all now ended and therefore the pages may not reflect the current state of research in any given area.

- A Virtual Research Environment framework for Cancer Imaging
- This project is part of phase three of the VRE programme funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) which aims to provide a framework to allow researchers and clinicians involved in Cancer Imaging to share information, images and algorithms.
- BID
- Creating an interface to allow parallel access to research data, published research output and teaching materials through the Oxford Research Archive interface. In collaboration with OULS and OUCS.
- Bio-Image Informatics
- The focus of the project is on developing a suite of bio-image analysis and processing solutions to be utilized across the whole of University of Oxford, for research projects embracing the true breadth of the collaboration across experimental and theoretical physics, biochemistry, biology, engineering and computer science.
- BVREH - Building a virtual research environment for the humanities
- An initial survey carried out by the BVREH team defined the range of services that a Virtual Environment should offer - from information about researchers and their interests and about conferences, lectures and seminars, to integrated communication and collaboration tools to support advanced research. The focus of the project team now turns to addressing the needs highlighted by the survey through a number of highly focused projects. These projects are pilot applications designed for specific user communities with the long term aim of broadening their functionality to a wider humanities user base.
- Cancer and Cardiac Imaging
- The Cancer and Cardiac Imaging is a collaboration between University of Oxford and the Technical Computing Initiative of Microsoft Corporation.
- Developing an HPC/NA Roadmap
- Powerful numerical and scientific algorithms underpinning current and future applications are not as available as they should be. The aim of this activity is to gather and understand the common algorithmic requirements from many different fields and to suggest future development scopes and targets. Three workshops have been held, aiming at developing a consistent roadmap for the future.
- e-HealthPlus: Citizen-driven Information for Healthcare and Wellbeing
- A research horizon-scanning and networking project, sponsored by EPSRC as part of their Digital Economies theme. Here the ability for sharing of information generated by primary healthcare as well as other related sources will be investigated.
- e-Horizons Project
- e-Horizons is a project of the James Martin 21st Century School at the University of Oxford which bridges the Oxford Internet Institute with the OeRC.
- Embedding e-Science
- Embedding e-Science Applications: Designing and Managing for Usability
- EPSRC: Research Cluster on Innovative Media for a Digital Economy (IMDE)
- Our research on digital economies investigates practices of exchange that are emerging around the capabilities of social, pervasive and mobile technologies. Through a series of events, we explore the potential for new services, new forms of exchange and interaction that benefit the whole of the UK economy. Visit our tumbl'r
