e-HealthPlus: Citizen-driven Information for Healthcare and Wellbeing
e-HealthPlus is a research horizon-scanning and networking project, sponsored by EPSRC. The motivating problem is: the lack of preventative and early healthcare, and the related digital challenges of providing personalised health information. Disease-prevention or early treatment reduces the burden of disease for individuals, and society. But, healthcare focuses on later treatment, when needs are most acute. Few services reach people before they become ill, to prevent or slow the onset of illness. The e-HealthPlus project is generating ideas and building a roadmap, to help EPSRC commission research, which can meet the digital challenges of earlier, more preventive, and more consumer-led health and wellbeing services. A cluster of experts is forming in 2008/9 to envision the roadmap; drawing from academia, the professions, industry and consumers.
