Andrew Richards is the Head of Scientific Computing for the Diamond Light Source Ltd on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. He is responsible for delivering the facilities scientific computing capability to underpin research and operational activities.
Previously he led the Advanced Research Computing facility at the University of Oxford, was an Associate Director of the Oxford e-Research Centre, and has led national e-Infrastructure projects. Prior to Oxford, Andrew was the Executive Director of the UK National Grid Service (funded by EPSRC and JISC) developing grid and cloud based technologies and led JISC funded projects to develop common authentication technologies. He has also been involved in a number of EU FP6 and FP7 projects related to e-Infrastructure development. Significantly he was involved in the EGEE and EGI Design study projects. He is currently a member of the UK HPC-SIG, National e-Infrastructure Project Directors Group.
