Dr Kate Pitts has worked in industry for blue chip multi–national corporations, in entrepreneurial small organisations and in the public sector where she led the Future Markets Research Group in the Post Office Research Group. She has been involved in computing for her whole working career including managing the installation of Telemarketing software for major European banks, and new product development for the Royal Mail and other organisations. Her main area of expertise in the Research Group was the use of emerging technologies by the population, particularly in retailing and financial services. She represented the Royal Mail on a number of think tanks sponsored by The Tomorrow Project www.tomorrowproject.net “Future of work in the 21st Century” , The Future of the Countryside” and “ The Future of Pensions” which resulted in the publication of a number of books. Kate also designed and built the InnovationWorks@reading www.innovationworks.reading.ac.uk at the University of Reading where she designs and runs workshops on a variety of subjects from strategy development to research strategy and collaboration for academics. She has been instrumental in the design of a number of other innovation facilities in both the public and private sector. Kate’s main research interests are the Diffusion of Innovation and Marketing in the public sector, particularly Higher Education.
