Linked Open Data in Taiwan

In October, Donna Kurtz (Senior Research Fellow, OeRC, and Emeritus Professor of Classical Art, Faculty of Classics) was in Taiwan at the invitation of the Taiwanese Ministry of Technology.
She gave lectures on Globalization, Technology, and World Heritage in Taipei (National Taiwan University) and Taichung (Tunghai University).

She also met IT directors in Taipei’s Academia Sinica (Physics and Institute of History and Philology), National Palace Museum, and National Taiwan University, where there is considerable interest in the University of Oxford’s Linked Open Data pilot OXLOD and its predecessor CLAROS.

The trip was organised by Professor Kurtz’s student Dr Chia-Lin Hsu (DPhil, Oxon).

The National University of Taiwan’s Research Centre for Digital Humanities, said to be the only one in Asia, has been developed by an Engineering Scientist.
