Square Kilometre Array Engineering Meeting

Square Kilometre Array Engineering Meeting

Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project members from the e-Research Centre recently attended the 3rd SKA Engineering Meeting, which took place in Penticton, Canada from the 9th-13th November 2015, in partnership with the Canadian National Research Centre.

More than 230 participants from 16 countries travelled to attend the week long event. The SKA Project is now in the pre-construction phase, with 11 Consortia carrying out the design work required to begin construction of the telescope in 2018.

The aim of the 2015 SKA Engineering Meeting was to provide a global overview of the status, progress and way forward for the project. Each consortia provided an update on the status and progress of their design and the summary of the current science goals of the telescope was presented.

In addition to the planary sessions our project members were actively involved in a number of breakout meetings to address and solve specific design questions, such as architecture and interfaces between elements of the telescope.
