Researching the Theory and Practice of Social Machines

The e-Research Centre was proud to host a three-day All Hands Meeting of the SOCIAM project, researching the Theory and Practice of Social Machines.

Held in conjunction with Department of Computer Science, the meeting brought together key thinkers in the social machines and Web Science communities – an important gathering of researchers and some 15 professors including Sir Tim Berners Lee, Dame Wendy Hall, and Sir Nigel Shadbolt.

Topics discussed included sociality, health social machines, Web Observatories, Zooniverse, fundamentals of the crowd, and ethics.

See sociam.org for more details about the SOCIAM project.
