Centre takes part in EIT Digital panel in Berlin

The Centre recently took part in an EIT Digital panel during an International Industry-Academia Workshop on Cloud Reliability and Resilience in Berlin.

EIT Digital is a leading European digital innovation and entrepreneurial education organisation driving Europe's digital transformation.

Michel Drescher, Cloud Computing Standards Specialist at the Centre, is on the workshop Steering Committee and also gave a presentation on A Tale of Ice and Fire, or: The Cloud and The Standards, during the event.

Cloud reliability is crucial given the increasing adoption and reliance on cloud platforms and services. However, EIT say that a recent study from Gartner found that 47% of all documented cloud problems were caused by service outages, ranging from 40 minutes to five days.

The workshop, which ran from 7-8 November,  addressed the issue of reliability and resilience by bringing together industry, academia, and regulators to identify the most relevant requirements in the field, and existing state-of-the-art solutions.
