The Oxford e-Research Centre is pleased to welcome Professor Jason Dykes from City University, to present a seminar on Tuesday 07 February 2012.
This seminar is open to all and will start at 2pm in the Oxford e-Research Centre Access Grid Room (room 277 - access available via 7 Keble Road).
Abstract
This seminar will focus on some of the recent giCentre work, where visualization is used to track bikes and people, present the UK census on a single page, provide an exploratory public-facing interface to data on local government service provision and reveal bias in London's local elections.
We’ll look at applications and techniques, but also methods for describing visualization alternatives, recording the visualization process as these are used in exploration and (perhaps) visualization design as giCentre ideas and applications are showcased.
