The New Science Of New Data: A Symposium

As part of the Digital Research Conference 2012, the Digital Social Research programme will present this exciting symposium on the possibilities for research using new data.  In this symposium we will be exploring the science of new forms of social data (such as twitter, webmetrics and sensor data). 

The invited speakers have been chosen because they are at the forefront of using analyzing and researching the new social data and/or a key related area of enquiry will reflect on new data/media giving exemplars of their research power and value as well as some cautionary tales about their pitfalls. The focus here is to consider the short medium and long term implications for new media, new data, new methods for social science. The symposium will conclude with a panel-led debate on the topic “A revolution in social data: current hype or future history?”

Registration

If you are registered for the Digital Research 2012 conference you will automatically registered for the symposium. However, if you wish to attend just the symposium as a standalone event you may to do so at no charge by filling in our online registration form

You will subsequently be sent an email asking if you would like to attend  conference dinner (at a subsidised charge of £10) on the Monday evening and if you would like accommodation at St Catherine's either on the Sunday or Monday (at a very reasonable price).
