Computing Resources
Supercomputing
The Oxford Supercomputing Centre is a complete High Performance Computing service available to all researchers at Oxford University. We provide training, application support with access to powerful clusters and shared memory machines in addition to a large storage facility.
NGS
The UK National Grid Service (NGS) is a national consortium of computational and data resource that makes use of defined open standard grid interfaces to provide services to academia.
NVIDIA GPU cluster
GPUs have up to 512 cores, and offer up to 10x improvement in performance and energy efficiency compared to CPUs. The Skynet cluster has 8 nodes, each with two of the latest NVIDIA GPUs. It is managed by OSC, and freely available to users within Oxford University.
Windows Compute Cluster
A large proportion of the UK research community primarily use Windows or are more familiar with Windows than other operating systems. Collaborating with Microsoft, the Oxford e-Research Centre is developing and supporting Windows Compute Cluster to fulfill the growing demands of Windows users in high-performance computing.
Astro Software Repository Service
The Oxford e-Research Centre repositories provides a user orientated service to allow the quick and easy distribution and installation of astrophysics software.
