Oxford e-Research Centre Visitor Programme
The Oxford e-Research Centre welcomes each year a number of established scholars, industry leaders, practitioners, and policy makers of distinction or outstanding promise. The programme is designed to give our Visiting Fellows the opportunity to collaborate on the development of innovative technologies to accelerate research. Our current areas of interest include: enabling science, digital humanities, research infrastructure, digital social research and addressing the fourth paradigm.
Visiting Fellowships may be awarded to suitably qualified academics to undertake study or research at the Centre for a period of between three and twelve months. Academics from other Universities visiting for a period between one week and three months may be awarded Academic Visitor Status. Visiting Associateships may be awarded to suitably qualified policy makers and industry practitioners or equivalent to undertake study or research at the Institute for a period of between three and twelve months.

Hosting Postdoctoral Fellowships
The e-Research Centre is happy to consider requests to host early career researchers supported by Postdoctoral Fellowships from external funding bodies.
Candidates may also be considered if they are near completion of their dissertation and would expect to have received their doctorate before taking up or applying for a Fellowship. The length of the Fellowship depends on the external funding body's requirements and can be up to five years in some cases.
There is no set deadline for Postdoctoral Fellowship applications however applicants should ensure that they contact Dr Mark Hylton, Centre Administrator, at least three months before the earliest of either the proposed date for taking up the Fellowship or the associated external funding application deadline.
Hosting Visiting Masters or Doctoral Students
The Oxford e-Research Centre will in exceptional cases host doctoral students from other universities who have an interest in e-Research and collaboration across disciplines.
Visiting students may come from any discipline but their studies must relate to the research interests of one or more of our staff members. Our current research foci include: enabling science, digital humanities, research infrastructure, digital social research and addressing the fourth paradigm.
Fees for all Visitors
- A flat fee of £500 per month for services is charged pro rata to the length of visit to cover desk space, IT support, normal telecoms usage and photocopying.
- For special programmes tailored to the Visitors requirements, a separate fee will be negotiated based on the level of input involved in the programme.
- It is expected that Visitors will normally be self-supporting, funded by their own institution or by a grant.
Contacts and Application Process
The Centre operates an open call for applications for visitors with no set deadlines. However we recommend that at least three months before the proposed date for taking up the Visitorship and preferably longer if a Visa application is required.
Please contact Dr Mark Hylton, Centre Administrator (mark.hylton@oerc.ox.ac.uk, +44 1865 610640), Oxford e-Research Centre, 7 Keble Road, Oxford, OX1 3QG.
